Knit Pretty

I love using pretty things when I knit, it’s why I treated myself to a set of the Knit Picks Options Harmony interchangeable needles.  It’s also why I make my own stitch markers and row counters. I’ve recently started listing them in my shops, those listed are the same as I use, snag free, easy to use and knitter tested ;)

Here are some recent additions…choose the size! There are three sizes of split rings to choose from and the option of having one marker made a little differently to help when knitting in the round…

Some New Pieces

We have had horrible weather over the past week, strong winds and heavy rain. Today has been our first truly fine day, not a spit of rain to be had! Any outdoor activities were out of the question, so  any spare time I used to knit my cardigan, and also start on the ‘Back To School U-Neck Vest’ from the book ‘Fitted Knits‘. For the vest, I’m using Paton’s Jet, a beautiful varigated yarn with pinks, lilac, orange, red and browns. It’s knitting up very quickly too, which is nice…

As mentioned, the weather has been atrocious. Horrible for any outdoor activities, but great for staying indoors and being creative. It also inspired me to create some ‘summer’ pieces…here are eight new pieces which have been listed in my Etsy shop over the last week or so…

Finished At Last!

Last night I finished my afghan using the ‘Sunburst Granny Squarerav_link4 I came across this pattern last year, and loved the way the round center becomes a square.  It’s made from acrylics, as our crocheted blankets are used a lot in the colder months, so I find it’s better to use acrylic so it can be washed without too much worry :) I’m really pleased with the scrappy look, and after finishing it last night, I snuggled under it to watch ‘War Of The Worlds’ on Fox, and was as  warm as toast.

I reached a milestone on Etsy this morning. The ‘Creme Brulee‘ stitch markers I listed yesterday sold, making them my 100th sale!

Sunshine On A Rainy Day

We have now  had four days of rain…now I normally welcome rain, but this is a tad OTT! Our lawn is so wet that today the postie parked on the roadside and walked to our mailbox. He’s nearly come to grief before in times of heavy rain, and I guess today he just didn’t feel like the challenge ;)

So, as the weather isn’t co-operating, I searched Etsy for some sunshine!

New earrings listed today at Etsy

31

…glorious Czech window cut beads in opaque green, wrapped in shiny copper wire. Ear wires are hand formed :)

Souhait…

…a desire or longing, a wish. This is the name I’ve chosen for my newest earrings listed on Etsy. I am really pleased with how they’ve turned out.

Raw brass ear wires, made by moi, with Czech glass beads in a lovely light sapphire blue. The beads have a picasso finish top and bottom.

Raw brass developes a patina over time, as does copper. Some people (I’m one of them) love the look of these metals as they age and become darker. For those that don’t, and are concerned with buying brass/copper products because of this, the patina can be easily removed with either lemon juice or vinegar. Simply put the juice/vinegar in a shallow bowl, add brass/copper (the glass beads will be fine to go in too), and swirl it around for a bit. Rinse under cold running water, and hang jewellery to dry thoroughly! Simple >^..^<
